NHL awards 2022: Complete list of finalists for the Hart, Norris, Vezina and more

The NHL playoffs are here and while the focus for some teams is on the Stanley Cup, there is other hardware that will be given out soon. 

The NHL has begun to announce the finalists for the 2022 NHL awards, starting with the Norris Trophy on Monday, May 9. Every day from Monday-Friday for the next two weeks, the league will announce the three finalists for one award. 

The winners of the awards will be revealed at some point between the conference finals and the Stanley Cup final. An exact date and time has yet to be announced.

Here is a look at the finalists that have already been announced.

2021-22 NHL awards

James Norris Memorial Trophy

Finalists

  • Victor Hedman, Tampa Bay Lightning
  • Roman Josi, Nashville Predators
  • Cale Makar, Colorado Avalanche

After finishing as two of the three finalists last season, Cale Makar and Victor Hedman are finalists again in 2022, along with Roman Josi. Both Hedman and Josi have previously won the award for defenseman of the year, in 2018 and 2020, respectively.  

Vezina Trophy

Finalists

  • Jacob Markstrom, Calgary Flames
  • Juuse Saros, Nashville Predators
  • Igor Shesterkin, New York Rangers

The three finalists for the Vezina Trophy were announced on Tuesday, May 10. Igor Shesterkin is the likely favorite after a standout season for the Rangers.

Calder Memorial Trophy

Finalists

  • Michael Bunting, Toronto Maple Leafs
  • Moritz Seider, Detroit Red Wings
  • Trevor Zegras, Anaheim Ducks

The three finalists for the Calder Memorial Trophy were announced on Wednesday, May 11. Moritz is the favorite to win the award after his stellar rookie season with the Red Wings. 

Hart Memorial Trophy

Finalists

  • Auston Matthews, Toronto Maple Leafs
  • Connor McDavid, Edmonton Oilers
  • Igor Shesterkin, New York Rangers

The three finalists for the Hart Memorial Trophy were announced on Thursday, May 12. After his 60-goal season, Matthews is one of the finalists. McDavid lead the league in points again, securing the Art Ross Trophy and Shesterkin was the best goalie in the league. 

Ted Lindsay Award

Finalists

  • Auston Matthews, Toronto Maple Leafs
  • Connor McDavid, Edmonton Oilers
  • Roman Josi, Nashville Predators

The three finalists for the Ted Lindsay Award were named on Friday, May, 13. The award named after Hall of Famer Ted Lindsay (formerly the Lester B. Pearson Award) is given annually to the NHL's most outstanding player as voted on by his peers.

Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy

The three finalists for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy will be announced on Monday, May 16. 

Frank J. Selke Trophy

Finalists

The three finalists for the Frank J. Selke Trophy will be announced on Tuesday, May 17. 

Lady Byng Memorial Trophy

The three finalists for the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy will be announced on Wednesday, May 18. 

Jack Adams Award

The three finalists for the Jack Adams Award will be announced on Thursday, May 19. 

King Clancy Memorial Trophy

The three finalists for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy will be announced on Friday, May 20.
